A Fresh Start
Isaiah 43:18 reads “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing.” Another translation says, “Do not call to mind the former things or ponder things of the past. Behold I will do something new.” This scripture speaks to Pastor Copeland’s message that “Our God is a God of fresh starts.” For those of us who are not perfect. For the times when trying harder does not work. For the times when the best choice is forgetting, turning the page and starting over fresh.
God did not intend for us to do it alone. Self effort, says Pastor, is usually faulty effort. It takes a God to help us turn the page. On a daily basis, He provides us with both redemptive moments and momentary reflections by which we can make fresh starts. Pastor asks, How many of us have ignored these moments and failed to take advantage of the opportunities to begin anew? How many of us have neglected to give God thanks and praise for the daily fresh starts that we are given?
In this sermon Pastor outlines the three things we must do in order for God to do something new in our lives.
